Safety Valves Type KSV/ÜSV and HD-KSV/HD-ÜSV

8 Further information
See Clause 8 on page 27.
If you find out that an impermissibly high pressure has built up in the piping system or
a valve has operated, shut the system down immediately and inspect it.
If the valve has the right size and has operated with good reason, remove the source of
the fault in the system.
Failure to observe this warning note may result in damage to the safety valve and,
in turn, put the user at risk.
Pressure relief and overflow valves protect the piping system against excessive pressure.
It is expressly forbidden to:
➢
Unscrew a safety or overflow valve or loosen the screw connection during
operation;
➢
Unscrew the cap of the safety valve which is locked by a lead seal.
Failure to observe this warning note may result in damage to the safety valve and,
in turn, put the user at risk.
If it is found that a closed safety valve is leaking:
The seat of a safety valve or overflow valve may possibly be damaged. The protective func-
tion of the valve may still be unaffected but the valve should be replaced immediately.
7 Help in case of malfunctions
When correcting faults, observe Clause 2 <Safety instructions>.
Dirt in the pipe can damage the safety valve seat.
The special instructions on cleanliness during installation given in Clause 4 <Installation
in the piping> must also be observed for maintenance and repair work.
Type of fault Remedy
If you find out that an impermissibly high pressure has built up in the piping
system or a valve has operated, shut the system down immediately and inspect
it.
If the safety valve has the right size and has operated with good reason, remove
the source of the fault in the system.
Retighten the screw connection in accordance with the torque specified in 4.2;
generally replace the copper sealing ring.
Remove and replace the pressure relief valve at the next opportunity. Observe
the instructions in 2.3 <Particular hazards> and 4.2 <Working steps>.
Shut down the system at once and
immediately remove
and replace the
safety valve. Observe the instructions in 2.3 <Particular hazards> and 4.2
<Working steps>.

Changeover Valve for Type KSV/ÜSV and HD-KSV/HD-ÜSV
0 Introduction
These instructions are intended to assist the user in the installation, operation and maintenance of
changeover valves type KSV/HD-KSV and overflow safety valves type ÜSV/HD-ÜSV.
Failure to observe the following cautionary and warning notes
could lead to potential
hazards
and invalidate the manufacturer‘s warranty.
If in doubt, contact the manufacturer (for address, see Clause 8).
1 Specified use
The changeover valves are used to change-over two redundantly installed (= double)
safety or over-
flow valves (type KSV / ÜSV / HD-KSV or HD-ÜSV)
in refrigerant circuits within the permissible
pressure and temperature in such a manner that
➢
only one of these two safety valves types KSV / ÜSV / HD-KSV / HD-ÜSV (= changeover valve
in final position at left or right)
is connected with the refrigerant circuit and the other can be unscrewed (e.g. to replace it).
In special cases, also
➢
both safety valves types KSV / ÜSV / HD-KSV / HD-ÜSV
are connected with the refrigerant circuit. In this case, the changeover valve must be in the middle position.
Permissible range of application:
➢
For commercially available refrigerants of group 1* and 2, except NH
3
➢
Operating temperature from -33°C to +120°C
➢
Operating temperature from -20°C to +200°C (special execution)
➢
Max. permissible operating pressure 45 bar / 130 bar
It is a condition of specified use that Clause 2 <Safety instructions> and the installation information
in Clause 4.2 <Working steps> are observed.
* When using the changeover valve with fluids of group 1, please contact the manufacturer for
media compatibility.
No changeover valve may be used under operating conditions outside the above
operating parameters.
Failure to observe this warning may result in damage to the valve and, in turn,
put the user at risk.
Protection against incorrect use of the changeover valve:
In particular, it must be assured that the refrigerant used is suitable for the parts of the
changeover valve which come into contact with it. The manufacturer accepts no liability
for damage to the changeover valve caused by the use of prohibited refrigerants, e.g. NH
3
.
Failure to observe this warning may result in damage to the valve and, in turn,
put the user at risk.
2 Safety instructions
2.1 General safety instructions
In the first instance, the same safety regulations apply to changeover valves as to the piping system
in which they are installed. This document lays down only those safety instructions which must be
observed
additionally
for changeover valves.
2.2 Safety instructions for the operator
Operation of changeover valves is not the manufacturer‘s responsibility; therefore, their use must
comply with the following instructions:
The changeover valve must be used in accordance with the specified use as per Clause 1.
Only changeover valve may be used with settings that are appropriate to the operating
conditions.
