NEEDLE TO HOOK TIMING
& CLEARANCE

1. Remove the needle plate and foot.
2.Turn the hand
wheel in direction
of motion and raise
the needle bar from
it’s lowest position.
Stop when the
bottom hairline
mark matches the
bottom edge of the
needle bar bushing.
Important Note Before Proceeding with Timing:
The timing belt should provide Imediate Transfer
of Motion to the hook when the hand wheel is
turned. If the timing belt tension is too tight it will
provide unnecessary resistance and wear; however
if the timing belt is too loose then it will not be
posssible to time the machine correctly. See page
61 for information on timing belt tension.
