- Do not use a step stool which conducts electricity for essential
work which involves live parts.
- Do not modify the construction of the step stool.
- Do not move the step stool whilst standing on it.
- Take extra care in windy weather if using outdoors.

Do not step sideways from the step stool and onto
another surface.
Fully open the step stool before use.
The step stool must not be used as a lean-to ladder
unless designed for this purpose.
5. Transport and storage

Fold the step stool up securely before and after use as well
as for transport and storage.
•
Step stools should be stored according to the
manufacturer’s instructions.
•
Step stools which are made of thermoplastic, duroplastic
or reinforced plastic, or which contain these materials,
should be stored away from direct sunlight.
•
Keep step stools away from areas in which their condition
could quickly deteriorate (e.g. exposure to moisture, high
temperatures, weather conditions).
•
The step stool should be folded up and stored in a dry
environment and must be stood upright or laid flat.
•
Store the step stool in a place where it cannot be damaged
by vehicles, heavy objects or contamination.
•
Store the step stool in a place where it cannot constitute a
stumbling hazard or obstacle.
•
Store the step stool in such a way that it cannot be
damaged by children at play or create an obstacle for
people.
•
Store the step stool in a place where it cannot be easily
used for criminal purposes.
•
If the step stool is permanently set up, make sure that it
cannot be used by unauthorised persons (e.g. children).
6. Care, maintenance and repair
Beware of damage!
Improper handling of the step stool during care and maintenance
may result in damage.
•
The purpose of care and maintenance is to ensure that the
step stool continues to work properly. The step stool must
be regularly inspected for damage. Moving parts must be
maintained in full working order.
•
Any visible soiling on the step stool – and in particular on
any moving parts – must be cleaned off immediately after
use.
•
Only use commercially available, water-soluble cleaners.
Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaners.
•
Maintenance and repair work on the step stool must be
carried out by a specialist and in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions.
Note: A specialist is someone who has the necessary skills
to carry out repair and maintenance work, e.g. by receiving
appropriate training from the manufacturer.
•
If necessary, the manufacturer or retailer must be contacted
when repairing or replacing parts, e.g. feet.
