Installing the Sample Line
Selecting a good, representative sampling point is important for optimum
performance from your hardness monitor. The sample analyzed must be
representative of the condition of the entire system. If sample is drawn from a
location too close to points of chemical additions to the process stream,
inadequate mixing or an incomplete reaction can result in erratic readings from
the instrument.
Install sample line taps into the side or center of larger process pipes to minimize
the chance of ingesting sediment from the pipe line bottom or air bubbles from the
top. A tap projecting into the center of the pipe is ideal. See Figure 6.
