Injuries may occur when people place their hands, arms, legs, etc., through openings in the gate grill when the gate
is operated, trapping them between the grill and the fence post (or fence).  All openings of a horizontal slide gate
must be guarded or screened to prevent a 2

1/4

” diameter sphere from passing through openings anywhere in the gate.

This screen/guard must also be installed over the portion of adjacent fence that the gate covers in the open position.
Screening will prevent access through openings in areas where the gate may travel.

ROTECTION

GTO’s internal obstruction settings, even when properly adjusted, may not be sensitive enough to prevent bodily
injury.
For this reason, safety devices such as safety edges MUST be installed.  Furthermore, a walk-through gate
must be installed if pedestrian traffic is expected near the gate.  We recommend the GTO Bulldog Pedestrian Gate
Lock
(see accessory catalog) for controlled access.
