2.2 Product description of Temperature Zone
Grundfos iGRID Temperature Zone is a prefabricated mixing loop
with pumps for incorporation in a new or existing district heating
network. The solution enables controlled recirculation from the
return pipe to the supply pipe in order to reduce and adapt the
supply temperature to the exact needs.
The solution is constructed from galvanised and lacquered steel
and delivered with the following pre-assembled components as
standard:
•
inlet and outlet pipes
•
isolating valves
•
non-return valves
•
pump or pumps including control unit
•
pressure sensor
•
temperature sensor
•
mixing point
•
connection points for sensors
•
electrical panel with circuit breaker
•
other necessary electrical equipment.
The inlet and outlet pipes for district heating connections are made
of steel and are bolted to the solution.
The pipe connections to the pump or pumps inside the pumping
spillotation are assembled with flanges, bolts and gaskets inside the
solution. Insulation is made with removable insulation pillows. On
big units, the insulation pillows can be supplemented with insulation
of rockwool and an outer sheath of isogenopack or aluminium.
The exterior pipe connections can be welded or bolted to the
solution.
The solution can have one or more pumps of the CRE or TPE
type for pressure boosting and recirculating the water from the
return pipe to the supply pipe.
The solution provides the possibility of incorporating a flow
sensor and a number of pressure and temperature sensors as
needed.
The solution is fitted with non-return and drain valves to empty the
pipes of district heating water during service and maintenance.
2.2.1 Application of Temperature Zone
The Grundfos iGRID Temperature Zone prefabricated mixing loop
solution is as standard used for controlled recirculation from the
return pipe to the supply pipe in the district heating network.
2.3 Pumped liquids
2.3.1 Viscosity
The viscosity of the pumped liquid must not exceed the permissible
viscosity level of the pump or pumps. See the installation and
operating instructions of the pump for more information.
2.3.2 Liquid temperature
Maximum temperature: 120 °C for the pumped liquid. For higher
temperatures, contact Grundfos.
2.3.3 Pressure
Maximum pressure: 16 bar for the pumped liquid. For higher
pressure, contact Grundfos.
