2. Product introduction
2.1 Product description of Pressure Zone
Grundfos iGRID Pressure Zone is a prefabricated pumping station
for incorporation in a new or existing district heating network where
pressure boosting of the circulated district heating water is desired.
The solution is constructed from galvanised and lacquered steel
and delivered with the following pre-assembled components as
standard:
•
inlet and outlet pipes
•
isolating valves
•
non-return valves
•
pump or pumps including control unit
•
pressure sensor
•
temperature sensor
•
connection points for sensors
•
electrical panel with circuit breaker
•
other necessary electrical equipment.
The inlet and outlet pipes for district heating connections are made
of steel and are bolted to the solution. Insulation is made
with removable insulation pillows. On big units, the insulation
pillows can be supplemented with insulation of rockwool and an
outer sheath of isogenopack or aluminium.
The pipe connections to the pump or pumps inside the pumping
station are assembled with flanges, bolts and gaskets inside
the solution.
The exterior pipe connections can be welded or bolted to the
solution.
The solution has one or more pumps of the CRE or TPE type for
pressure boosting.
The solution provides the possibility of incorporating a flow
sensor and a number of pressure and temperature sensors as
needed.
The solution is fitted with non-return and drain valves to empty the
pipes of district heating water during service and maintenance.

2.1.1 Application of Pressure Zone
The Grundfos iGRID Pressure Zone prefabricated pumping station
is used for pressure boosting in the district heating network. Two
setups are possible:
•
The typical setup with the district heating supply flow pipe
connected to the pump or pumps and with the district heating
return pipe run through the solution to install a flow, temperature
or pressure sensor.
•
The reverse setup with the pump or pumps positioned in the
district heating return pipe and with the district heating supply
flow pipe run through the solution to install a flow, temperature
or pressure sensor.
