Adjusting Oscillation
Timing & Speed
The oscillation adjustments have been set at the
factory and should require no further attention.
Only adjust the oscillation if the belt oscillates left
and right faster in one direction.
If the sanding belt makes contact with a tracking
limit switch, the oscillation motor will adjust the
oscillation to the other direction to prevent damag-
ing the sanding belt (see
Figure 32).
1. Confirm sanding belt is properly installed
and tensioned (refer to
Installing/Changing
Sanding Belt on Page 20).
2. Turn machine ON.
— If oscillation time to left and right is equal,
no adjustment is required.
— If oscillation time to left and right is not
equal, refer to
Equalizing Oscillation
Speed.
Checking Sanding Belt Oscillation
To equalize oscillation speed:
1. DISCONNECT MACHINE FROM POWER!
2. Remove (3) Phillips head screws and flat
washers shown in
Figure 33 to remove elec-
trical cover.

Equalizing Oscillation Speed
Refer to
Checking Sanding Belt Oscillation
to determine if oscillation needs to be adjusted
before proceeding.

4. Connect machine to power, turn machine
ON, and time how long it takes for belt to
oscillate from left to right and from right to left.
— If oscillation time to the
left is longer than
to the
right, tighten left limit switch screw
shown in
Figure 35 until proper tracking is
achieved.
