FD 500 - TROUBLE-SHOOTING GUIDE

The instrument panel remains

- Check the connection wires
- Check the electrolyte level in the battery
- Recharge the battery
- Check the integrity of the fuses
- Check the earth wire connections on the engine
The instrument panel is on,
the key is not in the STOP posi-
tion, but the starter motor does
not turn. does not turn
The battery does not
supply suficient current
- Charge the battery
- Battery has no earth wire connection
- Check the integrity of the fuses
No consent to start-up
- Forward/reverse pedal is not in neutral position
- Operator seated to activate the microswitch, or engage the park-
ing brake
- High engine temperature
- Check for a defective microswitch
- Faulty key lock
Dificult starting or
irregular running of the engine
Combustion problems
- Clean or replace the air ilter
- Check that there is no air intake in the fuel circuit
- Bleed the air from the fuel circuit
Deposits or impurities in
the fuel
- Check and, if necessary, replace the fuel ilter
- Consult the engine manual
Injection problems
- Consult the engine manual
The starter motor turns but the
engine does not start
Lack of fuel low
- Check the fuel level in the tank
- Check (and replace if necessary) the fuel ilter
- Bleed the air from the fuel system
Pre-glow plugs not warmed
up enough when the
engine is cold
- Wait until the preheating warning light has gone out
- Check that the glow plugs are working properly
Stopping solenoid
- Manually check the sliding of the stop lever
Timer relay
- Replace the timer
- Check electrical connection
Drop in engine performance
during cutting
Speed too high for the
grass height
- Slow down
- Put the mower deck in a higher cutting position
mower deck transmission
- Check the integrity of the mower deck bearings and guides.
- Lubricate the cutter deck using the grease nipples indicated.
- Check the cleanliness of the load chute and cutter deck.
When engaging the blades, the
engine stops.
- Blades
- Pulleys
- mower deck gearbox
- Check the integrity of the cutter deck bearings and pulleys.
- Check the mower deck transmission
- Check blades and transmission for clogging.
