Current Measurement (cont’d)
1. Shut off and lock out the power.
2. Open the branch of the circuit where the current is to be measured.
3. Plug the black test lead into the COM terminal.
4. Plug the red test lead into the A terminal (for current measurements
between 320 mA and 10 A) or the
µ
AmA terminal (for current measure-
ments up to 320 mA).
5. Set the selector switch to:
• A (for measurements up to 10A)
• mA (for measurements up to 30 mA)
•
µ
A (for measurements up to 300
µ
A).
6. Press DC/AC to select DC or AC current. The DC icon (
) or the
AC icon (
)will appear.
7. Connect the test leads to the circuit.
8. Apply power to the circuit and read the display.
Notes:
• If the resolution of the reading is not satisfactory, shut off power to the
circuit and switch to the next lower range. Turn on the power and read
the display. Repeat this procedure until the resolution is satisfactory.
• For readings of less than 300
µ
A, plug the red test lead into the
µ
AmA
terminal.
9. Shut off power and disconnect the meter from the circuit.
