Adjustments
2. Remove the end cover from the fan shroud
.
3. Slowly rotate the fan
to check the alignment of the
fan switch
with the three fan screws
. If the
alignment is not correct, loose the hardware
at
both ends of the switch mounting bracket
. Adjust
the position of the fan speed switch and tighten the
hardware.
4. Check the gap
between the end of the fan speed
switch and the head of one of the fan screws. The
gap must be 0 to 4 mm (0.16 in). (Approximately the
thickness of one wire tie.) If the gap is not correct,
use the adjusting nuts on the fan speed switch to get
the correct gap.
5. Install the end cover on the fan shroud.
Switch Adjustments, With Lift Assist
Gullwing Switch Adjustment
The gullwing switch
controls the point in the lift cycle
when the wings are raised (gullwinged) and then
lowered for planting.
Although factory-preset for typical planting conditions,
Great Plains recommends adjusting the gullwing switch
for your exact field conditions and planting depth.
Check the gullwing switch seasonally thereafter, or
when planting conditions change. Also perform this
adjustment if the gullwing switch is replaced or
dislodged.
The gullwing switch is located on the lift assist mounting
bracket that connects the planter mainframe to the lift
assist parallel arms.
1. Lower the lift assist to the point where you want the
wings to start raising. The row units should be just
off the ground.
2. Apply the tractor parking brake, stop the engine,
and take the key with you.
3. Loosen the bolt
in the gullwing switch cam
.
4. Rotate the gullwing switch cam until the roller
on
the gullwing switch
is on the high area of the
switch cam.
5. Tighten the bolt in the switch cam.
6. Loosen the bolts in the gullwing switch.
7. Raise the gullwing switch. Slowly lower the gullwing
switch
8. to the point where you hear the internal contacts
move. Hold gullwing switch and carefully tighten the bolts.
