Towing & Leveling
Towing the RV, Continued
Parking
After the RV is in the desired location, set the tow vehicle parking
brake and place the transmission in park. Turn OFF the ignition
switch. Go outside and block the RV wheels securely with wheel
chocks. The wheel chocks can be wood blocks or purchased
items as long as they prevent the RV from rolling.
Unhitching from the Tow Vehicle
1. Choose a mostly level place to park, and
pull the RV into the site.
2. Block the wheels to keep the RV from rolling.
3. LOWER the landing legs to stabilize the RV.
• For proper operation, it is important to follow the
manufacturer’s instructions.
4. Disconnect the wire harness/connector plug.
5. Disconnect the breakaway switch lanyard.
6. OPEN the truck tailgate.
• Unless your truck is equipped with a tailgate
designed to accommodate a FW hitch.
7. Shift your truck into reverse,
but
DO NOT press on the accelerator.
• This moves the kingpin off the locking bar,
so that it can be disengaged.
8. Apply the brakes,
then
Set your parking brake.
9. Disengage the locking bar,
then
Unhitch the RV.
10. Pull away your tow vehicle.
11. Level the RV (front to back) by adjusting the
fifth-wheel height.
If the parking spot
is on asphalt on a
very hot day or on
dirt and/or gravel, a
block of wood under each
jack leg can be used to
spread the load and reduce
the possibility of the leg
sinking into the surface.
