Air filter maintenance
An air filter restricts air flow to the carburetor. To keep the carburetor working properly, clean the filter
frequently. Perform this operation if you usually work with the machine in dusty places.
Never use petrol or solvents with a high ignition rate to clean the air filter as this may cause a fire or
explosion.
1) Remove the air cleaner cover and the air cleaner cover. Remove the components. Check for cracks or
tears and replace if damaged.
2) Clean the foam filters with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Allow them to dry completely. Or
clean them with a low ignition solvent and allow them to dry. Once thoroughly dry, dip the foam filter
in oil and fill the inner bowl to the level indicated on the clean engine and squeeze to remove excess oil.
When starting the engine it will smoke if too much oil has been left in the filter.
3) Replace the filter in its housing, put the covers back on and tighten the knobs. Never operate the
machine without the air filter.
CAUTION:
Never run the engine without the air filter in place as the engine will wear out quickly.
Fuel filter cleaning
Turn the stopcock to the OFF position and remove the fuel filter and O-ring. Wash the removed
components in solvent and dry them thoroughly and then replace them correctly. Turn the stopcock back
to the ON position and check for fuel leaks.
Petrol is highly flammable and explosive under certain conditions. Do not smoke or be near areas where
there are fires or sparks.
Spark plug maintenance
To ensure that the engine runs properly, the distance between the electrodes must be correct and the
spark plug must be free of carbon deposits.
