9 MAINTENANCE
The tool should always be kept in perfect working order. If any defect jeopardizes safe operation, the tool must not be used.
TOOL CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE CAN BE CARRIED OUT BY PERSONNEL WHO DO NOT HAVE
SPECIFIC TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AS LONG AS THEY HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THE PROHIBITION TO
WORK ON THE TOOL UNDER HYDRAULIC PRESSURE.
When the tool is used on a daily basis, we recommend carrying out every 30 days the maintenance operations described in
sections
9.1 CLEANING , 9.2 VISUAL INSPECTION and 9.3 OIL PUMP CHECK AND CHANGE .
9.1 CLEANING
Periodically disconnect the upper body of the crimper, remove the plastic side guards (inserting a screwdriver in the slots at the
base to lift) and remove the dies from both bodies.
Use compressed air to blow on the two bodies, inside the mounting where the dies are housed, and also at the base of the
stems that protrude from the lower body to remove accumulated grit. Apply a small quantity of
teflon grease or lithium for
high performance on the surfaces subject to friction and sliding (dies, die castle and sliding plates).
Check periodically the status of all connections and their correct coupling. It is recommended to clean thoroughly all
connections so as not to impair the seals and to prevent any contamination of the hydraulic fluid.
GRITTY RESIDUES HAVE AN ABRASIVE ACTION AND CAN DAMAGE THE HYDRAULIC GASKETS AND THE
SLIDING METAL PARTS.
