15. TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION
The engine does not start or
starts badly
The engine brake cable is faulty or
unfastened
Adjust and/or replace the cable [
11.1]
The microswitch is faulty
Replace the microswitch [
11.2]
Coil earth connection
Check electrical cabling of earth wire
[ 10.2]
Earth wire is flattened
Replace earth wire [ 10.2]
The coil is faulty and does not supply
current or the air gap is too large.
Check coil [ 10.2]
Carburettor dirty
Check and clean the carburettor [
8.1]
Poor seal of carburettor needle val-
ve
Clean the carburettor housing and
needle valve [ 8.1] or replace
the carburettor [ 8.2]
Choke blocked
Check and clean the carburettor
and the choke [ 8.1]
The spark plug is badly connected
or faulty
Check spark [ 10.1] or replace
spark plug
Blocked air filter
Execute the filter cleaning [ 7.1]
Fouling in the combustion chamber Dismount the cylinder head and re-
move fouling [ 1.]
Insufficient pressure
Check tightness of cylinder head
screws, replace washer if necessary.
Check wear and tear of the piston
rings [ 14.4]
Starting is difficult and strains
the rope
Oil in the cylinder head
Dismount the cylinder head and
clean it [ 1.]
Pressure reducer fault
Check the pressure reducer and
couterweights [ 14.]
The engine starts but does
not run
The tank cap has a clogged breather
pipe
Clean and/or replace the cap [
5.] ;
Fouling in the combustion chamber Dismount the cylinder head and re-
move fouling [ 1.]
Insufficient pressure
Check tightness of cylinder head
screws, replace washer if necessary.
Check wear and tear of the piston
rings [ 14.4]
