CHAPTER 5: SETTINGS
5
There are eight identical digital counters, numbered from 1 to 8. A digital counter counts the number of state transitions
from Logic 0 to Logic 1. The counter is used to count operations such as the pickups of an element, the changes of state of
an external contact (for example, breaker auxiliary switch), or pulses from a watt-hour meter.
COUNTER 1 UNITS
— Assigns a label to identify the unit of measure pertaining to the digital transitions to be counted. The
units label appears in the corresponding actual values status.
COUNTER 1 PRESET
— Sets the count to a required preset value before counting operations begin, as in the case where a
substitute relay is to be installed in place of an in-service relay, or while the counter is running.
COUNTER 1 COMPARE
— Sets the value to which the accumulated count value is compared. Three FlexLogic output
operands are provided to indicate if the present value is ‘more than (HI)’, ‘equal to (EQL)’, or ‘less than (LO)’ the set value.
COUNTER 1 UP
— Selects the FlexLogic operand for incrementing the counter. If an enabled UP input is received when the
accumulated value is at the limit of +2,147,483,647 counts, the counter rolls over to –2,147,483,648.
COUNTER 1 DOWN
— Selects the FlexLogic operand for decrementing the counter. If an enabled DOWN input is received
when the accumulated value is at the limit of –2,147,483,648 counts, the counter rolls over to +2,147,483,647.
COUNTER 1 BLOCK
— Selects the FlexLogic operand for blocking the counting operation. All counter operands are blocked.
CNT1 SET TO PRESET
— Selects the FlexLogic operand used to set the count to the preset value. The counter sets to the
preset value in the following situations:
•
When the counter is enabled and the
CNT1 SET TO PRESET
operand has the value 1 (when the counter is enabled and
CNT1 SET TO PRESET
operand is 0, the counter sets to 0)
•
When the counter is running and the
CNT1 SET TO PRESET
operand changes the state from 0 to 1 (
CNT1 SET TO PRESET
changing from 1 to 0 while the counter is running has no effect on the count)
•
When a reset or reset/freeze command is sent to the counter and the
CNT1 SET TO PRESET
operand has the value 1
(when a reset or reset/freeze command is sent to the counter and the
CNT1 SET TO PRESET
operand has the value 0, the
counter sets to 0)
COUNTER 1 RESET
— Selects the FlexLogic operand for setting the count to either “0” or the preset value depending on the
state of the
CNT1 SET TO PRESET
operand.
COUNTER 1 FREEZE/RESET
— Selects the FlexLogic operand for capturing (freezing) the accumulated count value into a
separate register with the date and time of the operation, and resetting the count to “0.”
COUNTER 1 FREEZE/COUNT
— Selects the FlexLogic operand for capturing (freezing) the accumulated count value into a
separate register with the date and time of the operation, and continuing counting. The present accumulated value and
captured frozen value with the associated date/time stamp are available as actual values. If control power is interrupted,
the accumulated and frozen values are saved into non-volatile memory during the power-down operation.
