Replacing a power distribution module
Replacing a power distribution module
Your server uses a power distribution module to enable the hot-swap capability and
distribute power to the system. If the power distribution module fails, you will need to
turn off the server and disconnect all AC power to the system prior to replacing it.
To replace a power distribution module:
1
Follow the instructions in
“Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 41
2
Follow the instructions in
“Opening the server case” on page 42
.
3
Remove the power supply module (remove both if two are installed) by following the
instructions in
“Replacing a power supply module” on page 81
4
Follow the instructions in
“Removing the air ducts” on page 46
5
Disconnect all power cables from chassis components and the system board, noting
their locations and orientation. (You will reconnect the cables after you install the
new module.)
6
Remove the screw securing the power supply module bay center divider to the power
supply cage.
7
Push the center divider toward the front of the chassis and tilt it to the right to
disengage the mounting tabs from the chassis slots, then remove the divider from
the power supply cage.
