SOLVING PROBLEMS
If any problems occur during operation, you will find the solution in the following table.
Problem
Reason
The Solution
The display remains dark. No
signal sounds, when placing
the kettle on the base.
The appliance is not live.
Ensure that the appliance is connected to a
suitable wall power outlet. Ensure that the
wall power outlet is live by connecting a
lamp.
Check, if the kettle is connected correctly to
the base. Turn it a little.
A severe problem occurred.
Immediately take the kettle off the base
and unplug the base. Get in contact with an
authorised service centre for examination and
repair.
The kettle is placed on the
base and plugged in, but the
display is dark.
The automatic shut-off has been
triggered.
After being idle for 30 minutes, the kettle will
switch OFF completely to save energy. Simp-
ly press a button or shortly lift the kettle from
the base to reactivate it.
The beep sounds continuous-
ly and the display does not
light up.
The overheat protection system
has been triggered.
The kettle has been operated without water
or with too low filling level. Leave the kettle
cool down for 15 minutes. Then fill with cold
water and try again.
Too much scale has accumulated on the hea-
ting elements, causing overheating. De-scale
the kettle (see: ‘De-scaling the Kettle’).
The water tastes of plastic.
This could happen, when the
kettle is new.
Prepare the appliance for use, as described in
chapter ‘Before First Use’.
If the problem persists, fill the kettle with 1.5
litre of water adding 2 teaspoons of baking
soda. Run the purify function and discard the
water thereafter. Rinse the kettle thoroughly
with clear tap water.
