Problem
Possible Reasons
The Easy Solution
The vacuum pump is wor-
king but the bag is not
evacuated OR the air flows
back into the bag OR the
bag is not sealed.
The bag is not positioned
correctly.
The upper rim of the bag must reach into the drip tray
completely. Additionally, ensure that the foil of the bag
lays even and smooth without any folds or gaps on the
heating bar and vacuum gasket.
You are using the wrong
foil material.
Bags for vacuum sealing are made of a specialized foil
type with a somewhat uneven surface at the inner side.
Any other type of foil cannot be evacuated, though it
may be suitable for foil sealing appliances.
The sealing time is too
short or too long.
Adapt the sealing time to the used foil material (see:
‘Sealing Foils’).
The appliance is too hot.
The foil is melted.
Switch off the appliance (pressing the stop button for 3
seconds). Leave the appliance cool down for approx. 20
minutes with the lid open. Reduce the sealing time after
performing various sealing cycles (see: ‘Sealing Foils’).
The lid is not closed cor-
rectly.
For sealing and vacuum sealing bags, the lid of the appli-
ance must be closed completely. Ensure that there is no
obstacle blocking the lid (e.g. the content of the bag). If
required, remove some items from the bag. Do not over-
fill the bags.
Particles and/or liquid are
in the area of the sealing.
For getting an air-tight seal, the top of the bag must
be absolutely clean and dry. Cut off the upper rim and
wipe the top of the bag clean and dry. Then try again.
If required, remove some items from the bag for getting
some more free space for the seal. Additionally, this may
help avoiding that liquids and powders are sucked out.
Very moist food may be placed into the freezer (approx.
for 1 hour). Place a folded piece of kitchen towel onto
the food for sucking off liquids. Start the appliance via
the moist food button or use the pulse function.
The bag is not airtight.
Use another bag. You may try to reseal the bottom of
the bag.
Parts of the contents in
the bag perforate the bag
during evacuation.
Remove sharp-edged items (e.g. bones) from the bag or
turn the edges inwards. Wrap sharp-edged items in kit-
chen towel. Use an new bag. It may be better to use a
vacuum container.
