children unless they are older than 8 and supervised. Keep the appli-

ance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.

•  Do not leave the appliance or any part of it unattended, when they are

in reach of young children. Bread slices for roasting via the bread slits

may not exceed 12.5 cm (5 inch) in width and a thickness of 2.5 cm

(1 inch). Additionally, they must reach at least 7.5 cm (3 inch) in height

and 0.5 cm (1/5 inch) in thickness. Do not insert any slices of bread

into the bread slits that are brocken or bend to avoid the risk of overhe-

ating and fire. Do not insert more than one single slice of bread simulta-

neously into each bread slit. Always ensure to switch off the appliance

(“CANCEL” button is dark), unplug, and wait for the appliance to cool

down completely, before cleaning the appliance and when the appli-

ance is not in use. Do not grasp into the bread slits or hold the appli-

ance via the power cord for moving the appliance.

•  Do not leave any bread crumbs dry on or burn in the surfaces. Always

empty the crumb tray after use and clean the appliance regularly. Do

not use any hard, sharp-edged, abrasive objects, abrasive cleaners,

or corrosive chemicals for cleaning the appliance (e.g. metal scouring

pads, scrapers, disinfectants; see: ‘Care and Cleaning’).

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS FOR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

•  The appliance is heated electrically. Place the appliance near a suita-

ble wall power outlet to connect the appliance directly to a protected

mains power supply. The used power outlet must be separated from

other power outlets and connected properly with protective conduc-

tor (earth/ground). Ensure that the ratings of your mains power supp-

ly correspond to the requirements of the appliance (220 - 240 V AC,

50 - 60 Hz, at least 16 A). The installation of a residual current operated

circuit breaker (r.c.c.b.) with a maximum rated residual operating cur-

rent of 30 mA in the supplying electrical circuit is strongly recommen-

ded. If in doubt, contact your electrician for further information. In vari-

ous foreign countries, the specifications for power supplies are subject

to incompatible norms. Therefore it is possible that power supplies in

foreign countries do not meet the requirements for safe operation of the

appliance. Thus, before operating the appliance abroad, ensure that

safe operation is possible. Do not use any desk top multi socket outlet,

external timer, remote control systems, or extension cord. The power

outlet must always be accessible easily for making it possible to unplug

the appliance immediately in case of any malfunction or danger.

•  Always handle power cords with care. The power cord may never

touch hot surfaces, sharp edges, or any moving parts. Do not let

the plug or power cord hang over the edge of the table or counter.

Ensure that no one will pull the appliance by the power cord. Power

cords may never be knotted, twisted, pulled, strained or squeezed.

Always grasp the plug to disconnect the power cord. Do not touch

the appliance or power plug with wet hands, while the appliance is

connected to the power supply. Do not place or immerse the appli-

ance or power cord in any liquid or in an automatic dishwasher!

DO NOT spill or drip any liquids on the appliance or power cord

to avoid risk of fire and electric shock. When liquids ran under the

appliance or dripped on the exterior of the appliance, immediately

unplug the appliance and wipe dry.

HIGH TEMPERATURE – RISK OF BURNS

The »DESIGN TOASTER DIGITAL 2S« and »DESIGN TOASTER DIGITAL 4S«

are designed for roasting baking produce, and the heating elements

within the bread slits are reaching red heat. Thus,

the appliance could

cause severe burns, when it is handled improperly. Additionally, food

that comes too close to the heating elements could catch fire

. Please

keep this in mind for avoiding injuries and damage.
•  For operation, do not place the appliance on or over heat-sensitive

objects (e.g. power cords). Do not operate the appliance on surfaces

that could melt, burn, or burst due to local heating (e.g. coated furni-

ture, glass top, or stone slab).

•

To avoid overheating

: Ensure that the start lever can always be

moved without any obstruction, for avoiding that the automatic shut-off

is blocked. Therefore, do not place any foreign objects (e.g. dishes or

tablets) onto the appliance. Do not insert bread slices into the bread

slit, that are too thick, bent, or brocken. Do not place the bun tray

onto the appliance, while toasting bread slices within the bread slits.
