8.3 Normal Mode Functional Checkout
The following procedures will be performed with external electrical power applied to the rotorcraft and the
GMC 605H in Normal mode. For a comprehensive description of system modes and operations, refer to
GFC 600H Pilot's Guide
(Garmin P/N 190-02081-04).
WARNING
Ensure that all equipment and personnel are clear of the flight control areas before
proceeding with these procedures.
8.3.1 FCS Pre-Flight Test
1. Apply electrical power to the rotorcraft avionics.
2. Verify the on-screen loader card version in the lower-right side on the GMC display.
a. Record Version.
3. Press the
NAV
key to continue into Normal mode.
4. Verify the following annunciations and displays:
• “FT” is displayed on the GMC 605H in white text
• “FT” is displayed on the PFD in white text
5. Verify the following sequence of events during PFT:
• The yellow LEDs are illuminated momentarily, followed by the red LEDs being illuminated
momentarily next to the FCS key on the GMC 605H
• A normal disconnect tone is played through the cockpit speakers and headsets
6. Verify the following annunciations and displays:
• “PFT” is not displayed on the GMC 605H or PFD
• “MANIFEST” is not displayed on the GMC 605H
• “PFT FAIL” is not displayed on the GMC 605H or PFD
• “FCS FAIL” is not displayed on the GMC 605H or PFD
NOTE
Unavailability of the air data and GPS data are possible contributors to a PFT FAIL
message. If the system completes the pre-flight test, but immediately shows an FCS FAIL
message, re-perform the Servo Range Calibration in Section 7.2.1 as an initial
troubleshooting action.
8.3.2 General FCS Checks
Perform the following test using ramp test equipment (e.g., DPS450 or similar). Operate the test equipment
according to the manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE
Ensure that the cyclic is in a neutral position before performing the following checks.
