7.2 GFS 83 Servos
The re-installation of a control push-rod linkage, shear fuse, and/or servo output arm does not require
software or configuration uploads, but the GFS 83 servo range must be recalibrated in accordance with
Section 7.2.1.
No adjustment or calibration is required if the original control rod is removed and installed again while the
servo, shear fuse, and the servo output arm were
NOT
removed or their fastener loosened.
If a new control push-rod is installed or the length of the original control push-rod was adjusted before it
was re-installed, the GFS 83 servo must have the range calibrated following procedure detailed in
Section 7.2.1.
Afterwards, the GFC 83 servo must be checked following procedures detailed in Section 1, regardless if
calibration is required or not.
NOTE
If a new configuration module is installed in the GMC 605H connector backshell, the
GMC 605H and GFS 83 software and configuration as detailed in rotorcraft permanent
records (Appendix A) must be loaded (refer to Section 3.3.1 and Section 7.8 for details).
Additionally, the GMC 605H internal AHRS (refer to Section 7.7) and the GFS 83 servo
range (refer to Section 7.2.1) must be recalibrated.
NOTE
If the removed GMC 605H configuration module is re-installed (original equipment), no
configuration is required.
NOTE
Verify the installed software and gains versions are exactly as documented in the
rotorcraft permanent records.
No software or gains need to be loaded if the original GFS 83 servo is removed and re-installed.
Additionally, no range calibration is required if the servo output arm and shear fuse were not removed from
the servo.
If a new, repaired, or exchanged GFS 83 servo is installed, the software and gains as documented in the
rotorcraft permanent records (Appendix A) must be loaded. The GFS 83 servo must also have the range
calibrated following procedures detailed in Section 7.2.1.
Afterwards, GFC 83 servo must be checked following procedures detailed in Section 1.
7.2.1 Calibration
The following sets of procedures present two options for performing the GFS 83 servo range calibration.
Both methods require external power on the rotorcraft and the GMC 605H in Configuration mode.
Method A uses a hydraulic mule to supply external hydraulic power to the rotorcraft controls system. This
allows the controls to be manipulated through their full range of motion to calibrate the servo range of
motion.
In situations where a hydraulic mule is not available, Method B can be used on AS350 B2/B3 rotorcraft
that are pre-mod 073188 for pitch & roll rigging and pre-mod 076602 for tail rotor rigging in accordance
with Airbus AS350 B2/B3 Aircraft Maintenance Manual 67-10-00. Method B uses control axis rigging
