Appendix A - RS232 Cabling and Configuration
The table below shows the pin-out of the TDC4’s RS232 port. Any pin not listed is not connected. Data
directions are from the point of view of the TDC4.
The TDC4 uses a classical 3-wire connection. The TDC4 does not use or generate any of the modem
control signals (CTS, RTS, etc.). The computer's modem control outputs are jumpered to its inputs within
the TDC4.

A cable suitable for connection of a TDC4 to a standard PC COM port was included with your TDC4
shipment. The Gamry part number of this cable is 985-00093. It is a straight through, 9-pin male to 9-
pin female cable.
The communications parameters on both sides of the RS232 connection must be set for

1 stop bit

No Echo,

Line feed,

Recognition Character of ‘*’ or 2A hex
Your TDC4 communications parameters should already be set correctly. If they have been changed,
consult the Omega Communications Guide for instructions how to return them to the values listed above.
