3.6.4 Running simulation program
The simulation mode provides simulated operation to help acquaint users with the many
features of the Navpilot-500/511. It allows you to view and control a simulated autopilot
without position-fixing equipment. Most controls are operative so you may practice using the
Navpilot-500/511. You may turn the simulation mode on or off as follows:
WARNING
Do not use the SIMULATION mode on
the boat.
The rudder may move. This is special-
purpose mode for technicians.
Available steering mode
AUTO, NAV, DODGE mode
Available operation
Heading, Rudder angle, Alarms, Waypoint switch, Wind data,
Depth, Speed, Time
1. Open the SYSTEM SETUP menu.
2. Rotate the course control knob to select “SIMULATION MODE”.
3. Press the course control knob to show the simulation mode options window.

4. Rotate the course control knob to select ON or OFF as appropriate.
5. For “ON”, enter the course value manually using the course control knob.
6. Press the course control knob.
In the simulation mode, the message “SIM” blinks on any display. Note that when turning
the power of while the simulation mode is on, you will be asked at the next power-up if you
want to continue the simulation mode.
