In Figure 3-3, two customers share the same metro core. The service provider
assigns each customer a unique ID so that the provider can distinguish between
the two customers and apply different rules to each. When the configurable
EtherType is assigned to something different than the 802.1Q (0x8100) EtherType,
it allows the traffic to have added security from misconfiguration while exiting the
metro core.

Private VLANs
The Private VLANs feature separates a regular VLAN domain into two or more
subdomains. Each subdomain is defined (or represented) by a primary VLAN and a
secondary VLAN. A private VLAN can have multiple VLAN pairs with each pair
identifying a subdomain.

GARP (Generic Attribute Registration Protocol)
GARP is a protocol that provides a generic framework to register and de-register
attribute value. GARP allows devices to register membership in VLANs (by using
GVRP) or multicast groups (by using GMRP). This feature only support on physical
port interface and LAG.
