Connecting an external monitor
An analog screen is connected to the analog Video Graphics Array (VGA) monitor port, a digital
screen to the display port, or to the Digital Visual Interface - digital only (DVI-D) monitor port on the
optional port replicator or dock. The screen output is limited to a maximum of two screens at the
same time (see
, the section on "Switching the setting for the screen output").

Switch off the notebook and the external monitor.

Plug the data cable of the external monitor into the monitor port.

First switch on the external monitor and then the notebook.
You can also switch back and forth between the external monitor and the LCD
screen of the notebook, see chapter
.
You can display the same picture on the external monitor and the
notebook LCD screen simultaneously.
If you wish to operate the screen via a DVI port, use the port replicator
which is available as an option for your notebook.
