2.4. Microprocessor
The mainboard is designed to operate with the following processor:
Processor Type
Speed
FSB
Intel Pentium 4
1.8GHz~3.4 GHz+
400, 533, 800 MHz
An onboard switching voltage regulator provides the required 0.875
to 1.6 volts for the processor. The processor sends five VID (Voltage
identification) signals to the switching voltage regulator. The
switching regulator generates the correct voltage for the processor.
Motherboard doesn’t support Willamate CPU. Support
Hyper-Threading technology CPU. Compatible with Prescott CPU.
2.5. CPU Packaging
The mainboard’s CPU socket is a surface mount, mPGA478B type
ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket. The socket has 478 pins with 50
mil pin pitch.
Note:
ZIF sockets are sockets designed for easy insertion of pin
grid array (PGA) chips. The chip is dropped into the
socket, and a lever is used to secure the chip in place.
2.6. AC 97 Codec
The ALC650 is an 18-bit, full duplex AC’97 2.2 compatible stereo
audio CODEC designed for PC multimedia system. The ALC650
AC’97 CODEC supports multiple CODEC extension with
independent variable sampling rates and built-in 3D effects. The
ALC650 CODEC provides two pairs of stereo outputs with
independent volume controls, a mono output, and multiple stereo
and mono inputs, along with flexible mixing, gain and mute
functions to provide a complete integrated audio solution for PCs.
