Corrective Action
Pump does not deliver
water or pressure
The pump is not full of water.
Stop the pump, fill it with water, check all pipe connections to make sure
there are no air leaks and try again.
Low Pressure
The motor is not up to speed.
Check for proper voltage and tight wiring connections.
The impeller or injector nozzle
is partially plugged.
Check impeller and nozzle for rocks or debris. Refer to disassembly instruc
-
tion for getting to impeller.
Air is leaking into the suction
line.
Check suction line connections.
Low Capacity
Your water level is deeper than
25 feet.
Pump can’t pump below 25 feet. Call your Franklin Electric dealer.
You are using too long a pipe
from the water to the pump.
Use a larger diameter pipe.
You have a plugged impeller or
injector nozzle.
Check impeller and nozzle. Refer to
The pipe from the pump to the
water is partially plugged.
Check pipe.
Motor overheats
Improper voltage or wiring
connections.
Check to see if your voltage is the same as indicated on the motor name on
data plate. Be sure all wiring connections are tight.
Improper ventilation for the
motor.
Check to see if motor is clean and properly vented.
Loss of pressure when
no water is used.
Leaks in piping or valves.
Check connections.
Gas in water.
Call your Franklin Electric dealer.
Water level drops below the
end of the pipe.
Pump is out-producing the well. Close down control valve gradually until
pump starts operating properly.
Motor will not start
Open switches, blown fuses or
loose connections.
Check switches, fuses and connection.
Improper connections to
motor.
Make sure connections are tight.
Air logging (excessive
air in pipe)
Air leads in pipe.
Check connections.
Gas in water.
Call your Franklin Electric dealer.
Water drops below the end of
the pipe.
Pump is out-producing well. Tighten down control valve gradually until
pump starts operating properly.
Gravelly noises inside
pump (cavitation)
Water level is below 25 feet.
Call your Franklin Electric dealer.
Suction pipe is too small or
length of pipe is too long.
Use a larger diameter pipe.
End of suction pipe is in mud or
sand.
Raise end of suction pipe or clean out well.
