11.2  BASIC SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING & CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

DISPLAY SCREEN ERROR MESSAGE

CAUSE/ACTION

Error 1 – Load Cell Problem

1. Call Franke Technical Support.

PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

WHAT TO DO?

Freezer won’t run 
when main power is 
turned ON.

Unit not plugged in.

Verify unit is plugged in and main power switch is in ON position.

Wall outlet isn’t working or circuit 
breaker has been tripped.

Plug freezer into another nearby outlet. Check circuit breaker to see if it has tripped. 
Reset if necessary. If individual outlet is not working, use alternate and contact 
licensed electrician to repair or replace outlet, as needed.

Freezer is running but 
it won’t reach target
operating temperature 
of -18° C.

Ice buildup on internal Evaporator
Coils

Verify freezer compartment has been recently defrosted following Store Closing 
Procedures in Section 9. If ice buildup is present, remove all product and loose 
components, defrost, reassemble, turn ON and allow sufficient time to reach target 
temperature.

Condenser Coil Filter is dirty or
clogged with debris.

Remove and clean filter per Preventive Maintenance instructions in Section 9.

Condenser Coil is dirty or clogged
with debris.

Use a vacuum cleaner or soft brush to clean coils, per Preventative Maintenance 
instructions in Section 10. If these steps do not fix problem, call Franke Service 
Hotline

Individual lanes will not
turn on.

Main power is off.

Press power switch to “ON” position. Rocker switch will illuminate. Allow 3 hours for 
cool-down before adding product.

Machine is unplugged.

Plug into 120VAC or 230V/50Hz outlet [per data plate] and turn on main power 
switch.

Didn’t hold LANE ON/OFF touch
pad long enough.

Push and hold LANE ON/OFF touch pad for four seconds or until the two green 
lights come on.

Freezer door will not
close properly.

One or both hoppers may not be
fully engaged in drive hub.

Push hoppers into freezer until center hanger tab protrudes in front of hopper. If 
hopper is not engaged with drive hub, rotate the drum’s turn handle to allow 
engagement.

Dispenser Drum is not
rotating.

The load chute is full.

The dispense drum will only rotate when the load chute is empty.

The hopper is empty, “LOW
PRODUCT” warning appears and
“RESET’ lights are flashing.

Fill the hopper with fries and push the “RESET” button. Drum will start to rotate.

Fries have formed a “bridge” condi-
tion.

Shake hopper and re-distribute fries to break up the bridge. Be gentle, to avoid 
breaking fries.

Lift Assembly will not
raise or lower.

Motor failure.

Call Franke Service Hotline

Green (Fry basket) 
“READY” lights don’t
come on.

Lane may be turned off.

Press the On/Off “POWER” button to turn on lane.

Desired load size has not been
achieved.

See: Green “RESET” button lights are flashing steadily.
