ENGLISH
ANCHORING – MOORING
Winches and windlasses generate enormous forces. Therefore, you should always pay attention to the following:
➤
Keep hands and feet away from the windlass.
➤
Only allow the windlass to be operated by experienced crew members.
➤
Avoid unintentional operation of the switches / buttons.
Only use windlass with engines running, always use the anchor bridle!
At the anchorage, make sure that the boat is securely anchored by powerful drive-back in the
engaged reverse gear. It must not make any drive. Do not leave the boat unattended at the an-
chorage. The boat must be able to move freely in a circle – so keep your distance to other boats,
objects, shores, shallow waters and sufficient depth of water throughout the swing radius.
Select the bay according to secure protection on other boat traffic, forecasts of wind and swell.
Better to repeat the maneuver several times and be safe as one time too bad.
Correct anchorage with a catamaran:
1. Start both engines if they are not already running
2. Loosen the security leash from the anchor, it remains fixed to the cleat next to the winch
3. Go into the wind with the bow and stop
4. Drop the anchor
5. Slowly go backwards and pull the chain at the same speed with a light draft
(the chain should now be level with the ground in outstretched position)
6. When reaching the desired chain length (recommendation: 3-5x water depth, but at least
30m!) hook the two black ropes into the chain with the shackle and continue to give until
the traction relieves the chain and sags slightly. There should now be a triangle.
7. Powerfully retract the armature with increasing engine power. Boat must stop!
If the boat still moves, the anchor does not hold – repeat the maneuver!
8. Check by visual inspection (snorkeling) that the anchor is buried.
Anchor bridle relieves the chain and stabilizes.
A catamaran is always anchored just like that!
