5-4-2. Effective Area
Move the cursor over EFFECTIVE AREA on the STABILIZE 2 menu, and press the menu
control knob. The EFFECTIVE AREA menu as shown below opens.

The effective area menu allows you to specify the effective area where images are present in
a screen. This adjustment is useful in reducing edge noise, especially for the black bars
(such as letterbox) produced by video conversions from 16 : 9 to 4 : 3.
How to set effective area
1) Open the EFFECTIVE AREA menu.
2) Set the effective area while viewing the bounding box that is displayed on the output
screen. Select
4 : 3
for normal use. The values in the parentheses allow you to change
both the width and height at the same time retaining the ratio in 2-pixel steps. To use
letterbox, select
16 : 9
. The size can be changed in the same manner.
3) Selecting
ADJUST
allows you to set the horizontal and vertical area separately using 4
parameters.
