OPERATION
VERTICAL POSITIONING
To position the
GRINDING HEAD CARRIAGE
vertically, place the ACCU-
POSITIONING GAUGE
on the lower pin. Next, unlock the GREY LOCK
HANDLE on the CROSS SLIDE ASSEMBLY
. Then release the BELT CLAMP
handle. The clamp release arm is located at the front of the carriage (see
FIG. 41). Rotate the release arm up to release and down to engage.
Steps for positioning the
GRINDING HEAD CARRIAGE
to the cutting unit:
1.
Move the
GRINDING HEAD CARRIAGE
to the left of the reel until
the alignment indicator on the ACCU-
POSITIONING GAUGE
aligns
with the ALIGNMENT INDICATOR
on the tooling bar. See FIG. 42.
2.
Press the LOCKING TAB on the side of the ACCU-POSITIONING GAUGE
to release the GAUGE ROD. The end of the rod should go between
the reel blades. Rotate the ACCU-POSITION GAUGE assembly until
the rod end touches the center of the reel center shaft.
3.
Press CHECK on the left side of the ACCU-TOUCH 3 CONTROL.
4.
Retract the GAUGE ROD and move the GRINDING HEAD CARRIAGE to
the right side of the cutting unit until the
ALIGNMENT INDICATOR
on the ACCCU-POSITIONING GAUGE aligns with the
ALIGNMENT
INDICATOR
on the tooling bar. See Fig 42.
5.
Press the LOCKING TAB on the side of the ACCU-POSITIONING GAUGE
to release the GAUGE ROD. You may have to rotate the REEL slightly
to allow the indicator rod to travel between the reel blades.
NOTE: It
is important to NOT move or rotate the ACCU-POSITIONING GAUGE.
Moving the gauge will result in an incorrect reading.
6.
Press CHECK on the right side of the ACCU-TOUCH 3 CONTROL.
7. Use the GREY HANDWHEEL
to raise or lower the GRINDING
HEAD CARRIAGE until the green light appears in the center. The
HANDWHEEL icon in the upper right of the screen will indicate which
direction to rotate the
HANDWHEEL.
8. Retract the GAUGE ROD
and move back to the left side of the
cutting unit until the
ALIGNMENT INDICATOR on the ACCCU-
POSITIONING GAUGE aligns with the
ALIGNMENT INDICATOR on
the tooling bar. (Same position as step 1).
