Fluke 43B
Applications Manual

The Fluke 43B has captured voltage and
current during motor turn-on. The instant of
turn-on is represented by the horizontal
position of the trigger icon . Voltage and
current are visible for 2 horizontal divisions
before turn-on. During that period the current
is zero and voltage is unloaded and at
maximum. After turn-on current increases
rapidly and voltage drops due to the load of
the motor. After the motor has started up,
current stabilizes to a lower steady state value
and as a result the voltage rises.
If Fluke 43B does not capture waveforms upon switch-on of the motor, try
changing the trigger level. Bear in mind that the trigger level always must
be positioned within the amplitude range of the waveform.
By changing time per division and making a new measurement, you can
zoom in on details of the switch-on process. Press

RUN
to arm the
scope for the next measurement.
