Components of the pipe mounting fixture
The pipe mounting fixture consists of 2 jaws connected by 2 threaded rods, see Fig. 4.39. One jaw can be moved along
the threaded rods. The other jaw is fixed to the threaded rods with nuts. It has a tensioning screw for fixing the coupling
plate and 3 disk spring packages for compensating changes of the pipe diameter in the event of temperature fluctuations.
Installation of the pipe mounting fixture
• Loosen the nuts of the threaded rods on the side of the movable jaw but do not unscrew them completely, see Fig. 4.39.
• Push the movable jaw to the end of the threaded rods.
• Press the threaded rod out of the movable jaw, see arrow in Fig. 4.39.
• Place the pipe mounting fixture around the pipe.
• Press the threaded rod back into the movable jaw.
• Position the pipe mounting fixture at the marking of the pipe.
• Tighten the nuts of the two threaded rods on the side of the movable jaw:
– Tighten alternately both nuts preventing distortion or moving of the pipe mounting fixture. The distances l1 and l2 have
– Make sure that the jaws are perpendicular to the pipe.
– The disk spring packages must not be compressed completely. The remaining spring travel should be adjusted according to
the expected thermal expansion.
• Repeat the steps to fix the second pipe mounting fixture. Observe the following:
– In diagonal arrangement, the tensioning screws point in opposite directions, see Fig. 4.40.
– In reflection arrangement, the tensioning screws point in the same direction.
• Adjust the distance
WI Clamp dist.
between the two pipe mounting fixtures, see section 5.2 and Fig. 4.40.

Notice!
For the installation on a horizontal pipe, select a measuring point where the transducers can be installed laterally of
the pipe, allowing the sound waves to propagate in the pipe horizontally. Thus, solid or liquid deposits on the bottom
of the pipe or gas bubbles in the upper part are prevented from influencing the propagation of the signal.
