3 Product description
The WaveInjector is a transducer mounting fixture for the ultrasonic flow measurement at extreme temperatures, see Fig.
3.1 and Fig. 3.2. For the operating temperature range of the WaveInjector, see Technical specification.
Designs
Use of the coupling plate
A coupling plate is mounted between the transducer and the pipe wall. Its cooling effect creates a temperature difference
between the pipe surface and the transducer contact surface.
At the same time, the coupling plate allows a nearly loss-free ultrasonic coupling between the transducer and the pipe
wall.
Acoustic contact is established:
• between the transducer and the coupling plate by means of a plastic coupling foil
• between the coupling plate and the pipe surface by means of a metal coupling foil
Use of the pipe planer
The supplied pipe planer, see Fig. 3.3 is used for:
• the orientation of chain support, jaw and pipe mounting fixture
• the check of evenness of the pipe surface (as a straightedge)
• grading the pipe surface (measuring point)
