ARCHED FRONT
The Arched Front Outdoor unit includes two (2) side block
components that are approx. 4” shorter than the other side
blocks included in the kit (Figure 5.8).
Use these two shorter pieces on the top level of the firebox
when constructing – this will be the 4th course. Mortar the
shorter side blocks and back block in place just as you have
the other components, ensuring a level application with an
air-tight seal. Next, apply mortar to the front edge of the
side blocks and place the Arched Lintel piece in the 4” gap
created at the front of the firebox (Figure 5.9) to create the
arched front. Mortar all components together, making sure
to butter all joints for a nice, air-tight seal.
FIELD MODIFICATIONS
Field modifications can be made in instances where cut
side blocks are not provided. Using a masonry saw or skill
saw with a diamond or carbide blade, cut 4” from the front
of the block as shown in Figure 5.8. Once cuts are made,
refer to installation instructions above for assembly.
