Error messages
In any case, where a command cannot be executed properly, an error
message will be displayed in response to the command. There are
several types of error messages that will be displayed as a result of
different illegal conditions. For example, if there is no module in slot 5 and
the command
sh 5 1
is given, the error message displayed is:
No
module in slot 5!
Warning messages
In some cases where a command may cause undesired operation, a
warning message is displayed (configuration is applied). For example,
trying to set a link’s bandwidth to 0Mbps, will trigger such a message.
Clearing strings
Whenever a string parameter is given, it is possible to clear this parameter
by setting the string to the null-string, which is ‘
****
’. For example, if we
wish to clear the description of channel 1 of the module in slot 3, we would
use the command:
config 3 1 desc ****
Command log
It is possible to view all recent commands (up to 32) that were issued by
the system’s users. This log will contain commands from any CLI session.
Commands are displayed in the order they were given (most recent
command will be first). The log is RAM based and will therefore be
cleared upon reboot or power failure.
The log can be viewed using the command
cmdlog {<n>}
, where
n
is
the number of requested commands. For example, if n=10 the last 10
commands will be displayed. If no number is specified, the entire log will
be displayed.
ping command
Allows pinging an IP entity from the management module. For example:
ping 192.168.1.27
Warning
DO NOT use the ping command with either localhost or an invalid
address! Use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost
