Burns due to explosive flames from starting fluid
WARNING: Serious injuries through burns due to explosive flames from starting fluid
Explosive mixtures can result when using starting fluid or aerosols, which can cause
explosive flames on ignition. This can lead to serious injuries from burns.
Do not use a starting fluid or aerosols.
1.2.6 Working on the PTO
Parts that have moved in the area of rotating drive shafts - power take-off
WARNING: Serious injury or death caused by parts that have moved in the area of
rotating drive shafts
When working or standing close to rotating drive shafts, parts that have been moved or
tossed around may cause crushing, cutting and impact injuries. Individuals may be pulled
in by rotating implement parts.
Do not operate the PTO before all safety devices are in place.
Observe the specified tube overlap requirements for the PTO shaft.
During the entire process of removing and refitting the PTO shaft, ensure that there is no
one in the cab.
Switch off the engine before removing and/or refitting the PTO shaft and before cleaning,
maintenance and repair work on PTO devices. Wait until the PTO device has stopped
completely.
Before switching on and during operation of the PTO, ensure that no one is close to the
implement driven by the PTO.
When the PTO shaft is removed, cover the PTO with its protective cap.
Incorrect mounting/use of the PTO
CAUTION: Damage caused by incorrect mounting/use of the PTO
When using implements with an impermissibly high PTO speed or when using trailing
implements via a PTO shaft with no free wheel, the PTO and implement may be damaged.
Ensure that the tractor PTO speed selected does not exceed the permitted implement
speed (see the implement manufacturer's manual).
If the permissible torque is exceeded due to the nature of the operation (see
manufacturer's instructions), use a PTO shaft with overload coupling.
When operating with overrunning equipment, the PTO shaft must be free-wheeling.
