5.3 Auto calibration of the receiver (DIP switch S201, no. 4)
The auto calibration can be activated with the DIP switch no. 4 of S201. In the case of this proc-
ess, the reader determines the optimal operation parameters for the connected antenna.
Note:
The calibrating process should be executed after the installation of the reader and every
structural modification of the antenna.
The following steps have to be executed for calibration:
1. Calibrate antenna correctly with the ID AT A antenna tuner.
2. Hold a transponder ID DTK-A at a distance of maximum 10 cm to the antenna centre, face
in parallel to the antenna.
3. DIP switch no. 4 of S201 in position ON
⇒
green LED V201 displays burning light.
4. Press reset key S200.
5. Wait for initialisation phase (10s, V201 flashes with 4 Hz)
6. Increasing the distance between transponder and antenna with small velocity (approx. 10
mm / pp), to approx. 70 cm
⇒
red LED V301 starts burning and perhaps flashes.
7. As soon as the yellow LED V302 displays steady burning light the process is finished and
the reader determined the optimal calibrating value.
8. DIP switch no. 4 of S201 in position OFF
⇒
green LED of V201 flashes.
9. Press reset key S200.
If the four LED´s from V300 to V303 are flashing simultaneously, during the DIP switch Nr.4 is in
position ON and subsequent pressing the reset key S200, the connected antenna is not calibrated
correctly.
If receiver calibration is executed without the fact that a transponder is in the antenna field the
RW24.ABC-A set the parameter to default value after 30 sec and the yellow LED V302 shows
steady burning light. Good reading distance are to be achieved already in general with these de-
fault values, which are also set with readers delivered again.
