2. Operation principle of the OBID®-System
The identification system OBID
®
is an inductive communication system to contactless identification
(ID) from objects which are in motion. A writing and reading is possible from passive transponders
with the components of the write / read system. It consists of the components reader
ID RW24.ABC-A, an antenna and a transponder medium as a storage medium for the data.
If a transponder reaches the internal magnetic field of the antenna, it is supplied with energy and
can be read and write. The received data are received by the same antenna of the reader which
also creates the magnetic field and which sends data to the transponder.
The magnetic field and the sent and received data of the transponder can all non-conducting ma-
terials penetrate so that a covered writing and reading is also possible.
2.1 Features of the reader ID RW24.ABC-A
The reader ID RW24.ABC-A was developed for reading passive, amplitude-modulated transpond-
ers. It is suitable for all applications with large ranges.
The electronic of the reader is installed in a stable, powder coated steel cabinet that also allows
the installation in the open air through the protection class IP54. It has connecting capabilities of
an external antenna, three digital inputs, four digital outputs, a relay output, an asynchronous in-
terface (configurable as RS232 or RS485) and a synchronous data / clock interface.
The reader ID RW24.ABC-A is together with an external antenna specifically for recognition of
OBID
®
-Transponder ID DTK and ID CTK in the credit card format according to ISO 7816, devel-
oped for large ranges via an auto calibration of the receiver. It is designed for the common opera-
tion with the automatic antenna tuners ID AT-A as well as of the prefabricated antenna ID
ANT.8060-A and/or the antenna kit ID ANT.BS.100-A and reaches only in combination between
these components its optimal performance.
The reader interfaces can also operate in the data bus with RS485 interface.
The digital inputs/outputs and the relay output allows to use the reader as a door control unit for a
door with corresponding signalings.
The ID RW25.ABC-A is a member of the OBID ID RW-family. They dispose of the OBID Crypto-
Card Securtity-Mangement.
