The pump switch may be one of two varieties, depending on whether the automatic 
pressure control option is installed.  If automatic pressure control is not installed, 
the instrument will be equipped with a switch that is used to turn the pump on and 
off.  If the pressure control option is installed, the unit will be equipped with a 
three-position switch, labeled ON, OFF, and AUTO.  When the switch is in the 
OFF position, the pump will not run.  When the switch is in the ON position, the 
pump will run until turned to the OFF position.  When the switch is in the AUTO 
position, the pump will be turned on and off by the pressure control software.   

This completes our tour of the front panel components.  The operation of these 
components will be discussed in greater detail along with examples in section 11.
