3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
3.1 PREPARING FOR INSTALLATION
- Have the hearth installed by an authorised installer, in
conformance with national and local (fire safety) regulations.
- The hearth is set up on a concrete floor. If there is no concrete
floor a foundation should be put up from the creeping space.
- When building in a hearth you should take care that there is an
open joint of about 3 mm around it with respect to the expansion
of the hearth when heating.
- Insulate the hearth with ceramic insulating material.
- Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation in the room to be
heated.
- Remove any damper that may be in the flue.
- Ensure that the chimney is operating properly.
- Ensure that there is an adequate supply of oxygen. An air supply
from another room or from the outdoors can be connected to the
lower valve in the Lumina.
- The underside of any decorative beam in the mantle must be
covered with heat-proof material (e.g. Nobranda). This prevents
the temperature of the beam from becoming too high because of
the hot air rising from the fire.
- Draperies, clothing, laundry, furniture and other flammable
materials must never be placed above or near the hearth.
Minimally safe distance 100 mm.
- Clean the interior of the hearth.

- When the hearth is burning, all surfaces, including the pane and
the back wall, can become very hot. An exception is the small
control door and the control knobs at the front side.
- If there is no supervision, it is advisable in some cases (e.g. if
there are children) to take suitable measures e.g. by using a fire-
screen to prevent personal accidents.
- A broken pane should be replaced before turning on the hearth.
- The Lumina is available in propane or natural gas models and
may not be modified for use with other types of gas.
- The construction of the gas hearth may not be modified.
- The gas hearth may only be repaired using original parts.
