Removing and Replacing FRUs

Replacing the NVR Battery
Replacing the NVR battery in the ARX is a hot-swap procedure and does
not require powering down the switch nor does it involve a loss of service.
The ARX contains one hot-swappable NVR battery located in the data plane
as shown in the following figure.

The system will notify you of a failed (or degraded) battery through the CLI
or an SNMP trap. If you receive an e-mail notification of a failed (or
degraded) battery, consult the
ARX SNMP Reference, NVRAM, on page
1-16.
To check the status of the battery, issue the CLI
show chassis nvr
command.
The following example output from the
show chassis nvr
command shows
an NVR battery status of Good :

Once you determine that you must replace a battery, you can use the
following simple instructions to replace a failed battery:
1. From the front panel view, unscrew the failed battery sled.
2. Remove the battery tray.
3. Insert a new battery tray.

After the new battery has been inserted, the charging process starts. It takes
approximately 8 hours to charge a completely discharged battery.
