tion where the sanding accessory could contact
hidden wiring.
ROTATING PARTS HAZARDS
Rotating parts can cause serious injury. Do not
touch the rotating parts before they come in com
-
plete stop and make sure that you keep anything
that could be trapped in the operating machine,
such as loose hair and clothing, away. Keep your
hands away from the machining area when oper
-
ating the machine.
Work pieces and tools can ricochet and lead to in-
jury and property damage. Make sure that the ma
-
chine and tools are always in good condition. Use
clamps or a vice to hold the work piece firmly in
position. Do not work on items that are too small
to securely clamp in place.
Check for correct alignment of moving and rotat
-
ing parts or other failures that could be a source
of danger. A damaged guard or other part should
be replaced by an authorized service center be
-
fore operating the machine.
Kickback and related warnings
Kickback is a sudden reaction to a rotating tool
free movement being interrupted. This causes
rapid stalling of the rotating tool which in turn
forces the tool out of control in the opposite
direction of rotation of the tool. Kickback is the
result of misuse of the tool and / or incorrect oper
-
ation of the machine and can be avoided by taking
proper precautions specified below:
1. Maintain firm grip of the machine and position
your body and arm in a manner that allows you
to resist kickback forces and always in the op-
posite direction of where the machine would
move if kickback forces were to occur. Always
use the auxiliary handle, where applicable, for
maximum control.
2. Never place your hands or any other part of
your body near the rotating part of the ma
-
chine. The machine can suddenly bounce to
-
wards you.
3.
Take special care when working near corners,
sharp edges etc.
4. Avoid twisting the tool. Edges or sharp twists
of the tool tend to throw the rotating machine
out of balance and cause loss of control or kick-
back.
NOISE AND VIBRATION HAZARDS
The noise and vibration levels shown in these
instructions are the maximum levels for use of
the machine. Insufficient maintenance has a sig
-
nificant impact on vibration and noise emissions.
Consequently, it is necessary to take preventive
steps to eliminate possible damage due to high
levels of noise and stress from vibration. Maintain
the machine well, wear ear protection devices,
anti-vibration gloves and take breaks while work
-
ing. Operating the machine with a stable speed
and griping the handles firmly with suitable force
can decrease the vibration level. During a working
day, you shall take frequent and adequate breaks
to prevent damage from vibration and damage
to the ears. Prolonged exposure to vibrations
can cause injuries and neurovascular disorders,
especially to people suffering from circulation
disorders. The symptoms can regard the hands,
wrists and fingers and are shown through loss of
sensitivity, torpor, itching, pain and discoloring or
structural changes to the skin. These effects can
be worsened by low ambient temperatures or by
gripping the handgrips excessively. If such symp
-
toms occur, the length of time the machine is used
must be reduced and a doctor must be consulted.
WORKING AREA HAZARDS
Thoroughly inspect the whole work area and use
a rake or yard brush to manually loosen debris
and remove anything that could be a hazardous
source to you or cause damage to the machine.
Keep work area clean and tidy. Do not operate the
machine in wet environment conditions or when
the machine itself is wet. Keep the machine away
from flammable material. Check that there are no
bystanders, animal or items that could be dam
-
aged within the machine’s range of action.
Operate only in well ventilated areas. Wood chips
and saw dust can be a health hazard when inhaled
or when in contact with the eyes. Always wear
appropriate half-mask respirator and protective
goggles, when working with such materials and
use a dust extraction device.
Work only in daylight, or with suitable artificial
light, in good visibility conditions. Try not to cause
any noise disturbance, by only using this machine
at reasonable times of the day.
Take on a firm and well-balanced position. Where
possible, avoid working on wet, slippery ground
or in any case on uneven or steep ground that
does not guarantee stability for the operator.
Storing of tools that are not in use should be done
in a dry and safe place away from the operating
machine and out of the reach of children.
REMAINING HAZARDS
The machine was built using modern technology
and in accordance with recognized safety rules.
Even when all safety measures are in place, some
remaining hazards, which are not yet evident, may
be present. The operator should use common
sense and take necessary precautions to avoid risk
due to remaining hazards.
