OPERATION
PRE-OPERATION
The generator is shipped without oil or fuel. Make
sure you follow the intructions concerning how
to properly fill the generator with oil and safety
intructions on using fuel.
1. Make sure the generator is on a flat, level sur
-
face.
2. Disconnect all electrical loads from the gen
-
erator. Never start or stop the generator with
electrical devices plugged in or turned on.
3. Turn the fuel valve to the ON position (Fig.
11).
4. Move the choke lever to the Open position
(Fig. 12).
5. Pull the starter cord slowly until resistance is
felt and then pull rapidly.
6. As the engine warms up, move the choke lever
to the Close position.
NOTICE:
Do not allow the starter grip to snap
back against the engine. Return it gently to pre
-
vent damage to the starter.
CONNECTING ELECTRICAL LOADS AND ELECTRI
-
CAL CAPACITY
After starting the generator, let the engine
warm up before connecting electrical loads to it.
Do not have any electrical loads connected to the
generator, before starting it. Make sure all elec
-
trical devices are 50Hz devices. Do not connect
60 Hz devices to the generator. Do not connect
3-phase loads to the generator. Do not overload
the generator. Before beginning your work, you
must verify that the total rated (running) and
surge (starting) watts for the items you will pow
-
er at the same time, are within the generators
operating capacity.
STOPPING THE ENGINE
1. Turn off and unplug all electrical loads. Never
start or stop the generator with electrical de-
vices plugged in or turned on.
2. Let the generator run at no-load for several
minutes, to stabilize internal temperatures of
the engine and the generator.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
4. Turn the fuel valve to the OFF position.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Be sure to store the unit in a clean and dry envi-
ronment, where it will not be exposed to exces-
sive dust, dirt, moisture or any corrosive vapors.
Cooling slots should always be clean and free
from clogs.
NOTE:
Do not use water flow to clean the gener
-
ator. Water can enter the fuel and intake system
and cause problems. In addition, if water and dirt
buildup on the generator’s internal windings, the
resistance of these windings will decrease.
• To clean the generator, use a damp cloth to wipe
the exterior surfaces.
• Use a soft bristle brush to loosen caked on dirt
of oil.
• Use a vacuum cleaner to pick up loose dirt and
debris.
• Compressed air (not to exceed 25 psi) may be
used to blow away dirt.
ENGINE OIL
The engine oil is a major factor which affects the en
-
gine performance and it’s lifetime. Check the oil lev
-
el before each use with the generator set on a level
surface and the engine stopped.
Recommended engine oil is
4-stroke gasoline engine oil
SF under API service classifi
-
cations or SAE10W-30 (equiv-
alent to SG class).
To check the oil level, remove the oil filler cap (Fig. 13)
and wipe the dipstick to clean it. Check the oil level
by inserting the dipstick into the filler neck without
screwing it in. If the level is low, add the recommend
-
ed engine oil until level can reach the upper mark on
the dipstick (Fig. 14). After adding and checking the
oil level, refit and screw the oil dipstick securely.
ENGINE OIL CHANGE
Drain the oil while the engine is warm to ensure
complete and rapid draining. Since the oil will still be
hot, the the oil should be handled with care to avoid
burns.
1. Remove the oil dipstick and drain plug to drain
the oil (Fig. 13).
2. Reinstall the drain plug, then tighten the plug
securely.
3. Refill the engine with the right amount of
recommended engine oil. (Fig. 14).

GPG 6000E HD : 1.1L
GPG 6800E HD : 1.1L
GPG 8500E HD : 1.2L
4. Refit the oil dipstick and tighten securely
NOTICE:
If the gasoline engine frequently works
under high temperature or heavy load, change
the oil every 25 hours.
SPARK PLUG
• Remove the spark plug cable to access the spark
plug.
• Use an appropriate spark plug tool to carefully
remove the spark plug.
