GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS
Read and understand this owner’s manual before
operating your generator. You can help prevent acci
-
dents by being familiar with your generator’s controls
and by observing safe operating procedures (Fig. 1-7).
Operate the generator on level and solid ground only.
Inclined surfaces reduce the effectiness of the lubri
-
cation and may cause failure of the engine. Do not
expose the generator to excessive moisture, dust,
dirt or corrosive vapors. Never attempt to modify the
generator. It can cause an accident as well as damage
to the generator and connected appliances. Do not
allow children to operate the generator. Consult your
authorized dealer for disassembly and service of the
generator, not covered in this manual.
CARBON MONOXIDE HAZARDS
Operate the generator only outdoors. Never run
the generator indoors as the engine exhausts poi-
sonous carbon monoxide, an odorless and color-
less gas. Inhaling carbon monoxide will cause
nausea, fainting or death. Place the generator in
a wellventilated area. Do not place the generator
near vents or intakes where exhausts fumes could
be drawn into occupied or confined spaces.
FIRE AND BURN HAZARDS
Do not use the generator in areas with high risk
of fire. The exhaust system gets hot enough to
ignite flammable materials. Keep the generator at
least 1 meter away from objects. Do not enclose
the generator in any structure. Keep flammable
materials away from the generator. Some parts of
the generator become very hot during operation
and you should pay attention not to touch them
in order to avoid getting burned. Let the gener
-
ator cool before moving it or storing it indoors.
Never smoke near the generator. Potential sourc
-
es of fire or spark should be kept away from the
generator. Pay attention to fire hazards when re
-
fuelling the generator. If a fire occurs, use an ap
-
propriate fire extinguisher especially designed for
electric fire or oil and gasoline fire.
FUEL AND OIL HAZARDS
Gasoline and oil are toxic and flammable. Follow
the instructions provided by each manufacturer
before use. The generator surface temperature
can get high enough to ignite flammable mate
-
rials. Male sure that there is some distance be
-
tween any spare gasoline tank and the generator,
to prevent unnecessary danger. Refuel only out
-
doors in a well ventilated area with the engine off.
Do not refuel during operation. Do not overfill the
fuel tank. Never smoke near gasoline. Keeep oth
-
er flames and sparks away. Always store gasoline
in an approved container. Make sure that any and
all spilled fuel and oil has been wiped off before
starting the engine.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Always wear appropriate and certified protective
equipement when operating the generator.
CATEGORY SAFETY WARNINGS
GROUNDING THE UNIT
Always ground the generating set properly. Fail
-
ing to do so, can result in electrocution, particu-
larly if the generator is equipped with a wheel kit.
Use ground terminal (Fig. 8.4).
ELECTRIC SHOCK AND SHORT CIRCUIT
Never touch the generator if the generator is wet
and /or with wet hands. Never operate the gen
-
erator under wet conditions. Never touch bare
receptacles or wires. Do not start the generator
with electrical devices connected to it. Only apply
electrical loads after the speed of the generator
stabilizes. Make sure all devices are in the “OFF”
position before connecting them to the genera
-
tor. Keep the same concept when disconnecting
electrical loads. Exceeding your generator watt
-
age/amperage capacity and /or connecting loads
of different specifications than suggested to the
generator, can damage your unit as well as any
devices attached to it. Do not use electrical cords
that have been damaged or worn. Always check
electrical connections are safe and reliable. Im
-
proper connection may cause electric shock, dam-
age to the generator and connected loads and/or
fire.
CONNECTION TO HOME SUPPLY
Never connect the generator directly to the
electricity power grid. If the generator is to be
connected to a home power supply via a transfer
switch panel for any reason, connection shall be
performed only by a professional and certified
electrician.
