Then connect the welding cables to the
output terminals as appropriate (Figs.1,
4 and 5).
Figure 3 shows the connections for weld
-
ing operations using positive polarity DC
current.
Connect the electrode cable to the “+”
terminal and the earth clamp cable to the
“-“ terminal.
Lining up the peg and the groove, insert
the plug and screw it in well clockwise.
Do not over-tighten. Invert the connec
-
tions so that the electrode is connected
to the “-“ terminal and the clamp cable is
connected to the “+” terminal when weld
-
ing using negative polarity DC current.
Set the welding current according to the
diameter of the electrode and the thick
-
ness of the workpiece.
While welding the following features come into
effect:
ARC FORCE
Optimizes the drop transfer from the
electrode to piece and prevents the arc
turning off when the electrode is in con
-
tact with the piece.
ANTISTICkING DEVICE
A device that switches off the output
current if the operator makes a mistake
and the electrode gets stuck to the work
-
piece. The electrode can be removed
from its clamp without igniting flames
that could damage it.
TIG WELDING INSTRUCTIONS
Argon gas must be used for TIG welding.
Connect the gas pressure regulator to the
cylinder, then connect the torch hose to the
pressure regulator.
TIG welding is usually performed using neg
-
ative polarity DC current (See “-“ in Fig. 4).
The TIG torch cable should be inserted into
the negative terminal socket on the unit.
The earth clamp cable should be connected
to the positive terminal socket.
At this point the welding current can be
selected using the regulator located on the
front panel of the unit.
The diameter of the electrode and the
welding current value should be selected
according to the thickness of the work
-
piece.
ARC GENERATION
After opening the gas supply using the
tap on the torch grip, regulate its flow via
the tap on the gas cylinder (app. 6 litres
per min.).
Place the ceramic tip of the torch onto the
workpiece (Step 1).
Using a circular movement, place the
tungsten electrode on the workpiece too
(Step 2).
To generate the arc, move the electrode a
few millimetres away (Step 3).
During the entire welding process main
-
tain the same distance from the welding
pool that has been created.
Taking the torch away from the workpiece
will in-terrupt the welding process.
The pressure reducer and the welding
torch are not provided with the unit but
can be purchased separately.
