guide bearing approximately 1/16” behind the
gullets of the saw blade. Each guide bearing is
mounted on a concentric shaft. When the shaft
is rotated, the relative position of the guide to
the blade can be changed.
3. Rotate each adjustment shaft to position the
guide bearings within 1/32” of the saw blade.
4. Secure the guide bearings by tightening lock
knobs (E) or set screws (E).
This bandsaw comes with a versatile dust chute
(Fig. 15.A) which accepts 2”, 2-1/2” and 4” dust col -
lection hoses.
WARNING
Wood dust and chips in a confined area can give
rise to fire or an explosion. Keep ignition sources
away from bandsaw. Keep saw dust to a minimum
by cleaning the inside of the bandsaw after every
use.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
WARNING
For your own safety, turn the switch off and re -
move plug from power source outlet before any
operation of maintenance on the machine. Keep
your appliance clean. To avoid motor damage,
blow out or vacuum frequently this motor to keep
saw dust from interfering with normal motor ven -
tilation.
WARNING
Wear safety glasses to avoid being scraped if the
blade should suddenly uncoil. Wearing gloves,
carefully uncoil new blade by holding it at arms
length.
Every six months to one year (depending on fre -
quency and intensity of use), take your machine to
the nearest service station facility for the follow-
ing service operations:
f
Lubrication.
f
Motor inspection and maintenance.
f
Mechanical inspection and cleaning (gears, bear-
ings, etc.).
f
Electrical inspection (switch, cord, etc.).
f
Testing to assure proper mechanical and electrical
operation.
To replace the drive / tensioning belt:
1. Open upper and lower doors and remove saw
blade as described in this manual.
2. Remove tension on drive belt (Fig. 16.A) by
loosening the cap screw (Fig. 15.A) on the back
of the cabinet which secures the motor.
3. Using snap ring pliers, remove snap ring (Fig.
16.B) that secures lower wheel (Fig. 16.C) to
the drive shaft.
4. Slide lower wheel assembly off the drive shaft,
this will dislodge the belt. Discard the old belt.
5. Place new belt onto lower wheel pulley. Rein -
stall lower wheel. Reinstall snap ring.
6. Place new belt partially around motor pulley
(Fig. 16.D) to get it started, then turn lower
wheel by hand until belt is completely seated
on motor pulley.
7. Push the motor down to tension the belt. The
belt is properly tensioned when moderate fin -
ger pressure on the belt between the two pul-
leys causes a 1/2” deflection.
8. Tighten cap screw on the back of the cabinet
which secures the motor.
9. Re-install blade as described in this manual.
Close upper and lower doors.
POWER CORD
To avoid shock or fire hazard, if the power cord is
worm or cut, or damaged in any way, have it re -
place immediately. Electrical connection cables
often suffer insulation damage. Possible causes
are:
f
Punch points when connection cables are run
through window or door gaps.
f
Kinks resulting from incorrect attachment or lay -
ing of the connection cable.
f
Cuts resulting from running over the connecting
cable.
f
Insulation damage resulting from forcefully pull -
ing out of the wall socket.
f
Cracks through aging of insulation.
Such defective electrical connection cables must
not be used as the insulation damage makes them
extremely hazardous.
LUBRICATION
Periodically lubricate joints of moving parts.
Apply a thin coat of automobile type wax to the
table top to allow the wood to slide easily while
cutting. Also apply wax to the inside surfaces of
the table pivot.
NOTE
All the ball bearings are permanently lubricated.
They require no further lubrication.
CLEANING
Use a small soft brush to clean the outside of the
unit. Do not use strong detergents. Household
cleaners that contain aromatic oils such as pine
and lemon and solvents such as kerosene can
damage plastic housing or handle. Wipe off any
moisture with a soft cloth. Remove dust, dirt and
machining residues with an appropriate vacuum
cleaner if necessary.

Keep your bandsaw and your work area clean.
f
Frequently remove sawdust from the inside of the
saw.
f
Do not allow pitch to accumulate on the table,
blade guides or thrust bearings. Clean them with
quality pitch remover.
f
Frequently vacuum or blow out any sawdust from
the motor and around the switches.
STORAGE
WARNING
Turn the switch off and remove the plug from
power source outlet to store the machine. Store
the unit only in dry and well ventilated areas.
In case the unit will be stored for an extended
time, use the following storage procedure:
f
Thoroughly clean the unit and inspect for any
loose or damaged parts. Repair or replace dam -
aged parts and tighten loose screws, nuts or bolts.
f
Lubricate and apply grease, where required.
f
Store the unit in its original packaging.
