feature?
The Continuous Data Protection (CDP) feature is enabled by default, and is 'triggered' when the
file system is updated, resulting in a snapshot. If no changes are made to the file system, then a
recovery point (snapshot) will not be shown.
If organizations have applications (e.g., backup/recovery) that are managing how long information
is kept, the Continuous Data Protection feature can be turned on or off at the share level through
OneSystem.
Snapshots are taken every 10 seconds for the first hour and then retained for a period of time.
Over time, different recovery points will be available, and the default retention period is for 1 year.
Below is a table of the default snapshot frequency and retention period.
NOTE:
Snapshots are deduplicated with the original information, resulting in efficient capacity
utilization. The 'clock' begins based on two factors: when the share/export was created and
if the file system is inactive for a period of time. Consequently, the timing of the snapshots
will not occur at midnight every 24 hours and December 31st for the annual snapshot.
