Ventilation System
WARNING
DANGER
Forced Ventilation
Your boat is equipped with electric blower con-
nected to the starboard rear vent near the transom
that provides forced ventilation to the systems
compartment prior to generator start up and while
it is operating. The in-line blower is activated by a
switch in the cabin AC breaker panel and is located
in the vent hose just below the vent. Refer to the
Electrical Systems chapter for more information
on generator and blower operation.
10.5 Maintenance
• Periodically lubricate all hinges and latch as-
semblies with a light oil.
• Periodically clean and coat gasket materials
with silicone to help keep them pliable.
• The opening cabin deck hatch and port window
is made of acrylic plastic glass. Acrylic glass
scratches easily. Never use a dry cloth or
glass cleaning solutions on acrylic glass. Use a
soft cloth and mild soap and water for routine
cleaning. Solvents and products containing
ammonia can permanently damage acrylic
glass. Please refer to the Routine Maintenance
chapter for more information on the proper
maintenance for acrylic plastic glass.
• Periodic inspection and cleaning of the bilge
and systems compartment ventilation ducts is
necessary to ensure adequate air circulation.
A buildup of leaves, twigs or other debris can
severely reduce ventilation.
• The bilge blower is permanently lubricated and
requires no maintenance. Blower operation
can and should be tested by placing a hand
over the exhaust vent. Do not rely on the
sound of the blower. A substantial amount of
air should be exhausted by the blower. Fre-
quently check the intake vents for obstructions
and proper blower operation, preferably before
each cruise.
Aft Forced Air Vent
Notice:
Should blower noise become excessive, the
source of the noise should be found and cor-
rected before operating the boat.
GASOLINE VAPORS CAN EXPLODE. BEFORE STARTING THE
GENERATOR, OPERATE THE BLOWER FOR FOUR (4) MINUTES,
OPEN THE SYSTEMS COMPARTMENT ACCESS HATCH,
INSPECT THE FUEL SYSTEM AND CHECK FOR THE ODOR OF
GASOLINE VAPORS. ALWAYS OPERATE THE BLOWER WHILE
GENERATOR IS RUNNING. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES
SHOULD THIS PROCEDURE BE OVERLOOKED.
OBSTRUCTING THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WILL RESTRICT
AIR IN AND OUT OF THE SYSTEMS COMPARTMENT. THE AIR
FLOW THROUGH THE AFT FORCED AIR VENT IS IMPORTANT
FOR PROPER AIR FLOW VOLUME WHILE THE GENERATOR
IS RUNNING. MAKE SURE THE AIRFLOW OUT OF THIS VENT
IS NOT OBSTRUCTED.
